So I just got a great deal on a GeForce GTX 580 from a friend who could afford to sell it for 90$. Obviously, I was pretty excited, but I am kinda treating it with kid gloves due to inexperience with installing one of these bad boys.

First, what it will be connected to:

Gigabyte 970A-UD3P mobo with an AMD 3.8GHz Quadcore. The important part (I think), is the power supply, though. I have a refurbed modular Kingwin 600w PS with 2 6+2 pin pci express cables available. I know that 600w is the minimum PSU for this GPU, but I just wondered how minimum that was and if I should be concerned for any reason.

Possibly correlating to that is the fact that my friend wasn't sure how much memory the card has, and I'm not really sure, either. There are 2 P/N on the card, one is on a label, but I cannot find the other one on the EVGA website. The one on the card is 015-P3-1580-B1 and the one on the sticky label is 015-P3-1582-AR.

The 1582-AR P/N lists 1.5GB of GDDR5, and the 1580-B1 is the one I cannot find. I thought maybe the 1.5 GB was correct, but figured I would ask you find folks.

In short, is there anything I should worry about before plugging it in and booting it up?

Thanks!

Solution
It should be as simple as plugging it to Motherboard, pluging connectors to card, booting system and installing drivers. I am pretty sure you will need to 2 eight pin connectors and some converters may be necessary. If your power supply is at least half decent, 600w should be more than enough. And yes, that gtx 580 contains 1.5 gb of vram.

It takes an 8 pin and a 6 pin, so i figured the extra +2 just gets left dangling? lol
