Crossfire R9 280X or single 280X for Eyefinity?

I have 3 Dell 23' monitors that I'm not using for gaming at the moment, but hope to by year's end due to my 7770 currently inside my desktop holding me back unless I play it on my main monitor only. For an example, I'll be playing games like:

Destiny,
Batman Arkham Knight,
and Castlevania 2: Lords Of Shadow 2

(Yes I know the first two aren't out yet)

Since you already know my question from the title, I want to ask if it's worth two 280x's or just one for a 5760x1080 Eyefinity setup. I want to play at Ultra at 45+ frames, preferably 60fps.

The only thing I could come close to for a Crossfire 280x setup on Eyefinity was a guy playing BF4 with 2 7970's. Is it worth it? I want to play in Eyefinity no matter what, but I don't want Low at 20fps with my 7770. (Yes, I know it was a dumb decision.)

If you're wondering what CPU I'm going to use is the FX-8350.

Even if you go with CF I am not sure whether you will reach 60 FPS for Destiny.
What is holding you back from buying 2x R9 290 ? You will be able to play whatever for easily 3-4 years before yo need to consider a change again.
CF with 280x's won't last that long, unless you are planning to upgrade next year to 290's

But hey up to you :D It will be more expensive but last longer.

2* 280X (3GB RAM@1600 Mhz; memory interface 384 bits; GPU clock 1070 Mhz) = 590€

2* 290 (4GB RAM@1250 Mhz; memory interface 512 bits; GPU clock 947 Mhz) = 800€

2* 290X (4GB RAM@1250 Mhz; memory interface 512 bits; GPU clock 1000 Mhz) = 960€

Keep in mind that even a pair of 290X wont Ultra every game in a 5760*1080 resolution assuring the 60 FPS, so there will be graphical adjustments (minor I should say. Of course in single player one might sacrifice a few FPS for a bit of eye candy ). So, with the optimal graphic setting, swapping cards would probably jump you from 75-80 FPS to 100-120. In gameplay terms that is nothing and you spent almost 400€ more.

In 1 or 2 years to come no one will be talking about 290X :p

Just to clarify my post, I wasn't talking about the 290X just about the 290 :)

I agree that spending so much on 290X is not worth it but for the 290 it is.

I do not agree with Agente Silva as €800 is way too much:

I want to correct the specs for the R9280X regarding Memory frequency - not 1600Mhz but 1200 Mhz (some makers reach 1250 Mhz). In price terms, it was a quick peek at some site, but it won´t go much lower that that!

Definitely price. I would try not to spend more than 2000$ with the new setup that I was going to build.

I think I'll just wait about 2 years to build a new pc with the R9 480X or GTX 970 or whatever is out by then, and just get a R9 270 to play on my main monitor. (I'm getting a 760K as well for the 270)
