Hello everybody. I'm planning to get an AMD FX 6300 due to its price/performance, but want to place it on a board which will last 3-4 years. A motherboard which supports overclocking well, has some solid perfermance and ability to support next CPUs will be deciding factor for me. I'm in parting of the ways between picking a cheap motherboard like MSI 970A-G46 or Gigabyte 970A-UD3P and relatively expensive one like MSI 990FXA-GD80 or Gigabyte 990FXA-UD5. It is really tedious knowing that this boards are aged above 2 years. I didn't do enough research for next gen AMD processors but heard that they are likely take a place on this old AM3+ boards. So what's your thoughts? Which way I should prefer? Thanks in advance. :)

PS: My last 2 boards was ASUS and they didn't perform well, so that's why I'm not referencing any models from that company, like highly popular M5A97 R2.0.

So you are telling me that I should pick a higher board and trust AMD's next CPU's will arrive on this socket. Currently I'm in mind of picking Gigabyte 970A-UD3P that is cost effective.

Not really, I'd go the good mobo and hope the next line of CPUs (big if and when) from AMD will run on AM3+, and if not you are open to upgrading to a 8320 or 8350....AMD's next, supposedly Steam Roller seems to have disappeared from sight, they had talked SR for 2013, now seem to be saying nothing this year...if looking for something that will keep you happy for the longer time, I'd go Intel and Haswell, there is no real such thing as 'futureproofing' as people like to talk about, the next newer lines of CPUs will be running with DDR4

DDR4 is a long way to think about from what I read and it'll be supported only 8-core of Haswell E processors, so no need for it really. But you have had an effect on my build (FX6300 | 970A-UD3P | 4GB1600). I may change my mind to get G3220 and 4GB but don't know which motherboard to pick. I would love to upgrade my memory to 16GB, but no plans to pick a second GPU. Then I will upgrade the CPU to i7 4770, seriously I don't want to overclock it because of lack of money at the moment. Would love to hear some waypoints from you. Thanks for advices though.
