Hi guys

Well today mornin I was playing bf4 at ultra on my GTX760

So while playing I could smell something burning....at first I thought it would be my GPU as my friends said that there is a chance that it may fry out due to my 500w low quality PSU....which I was gonna change next week...

So while playing I smelled something burning....everything seemd fine...so I thought it just be simehing burning outside...

Then I went ahead and played...
Just wen the match got over there was a noise and my PC went off... I realized something is burned inside..I turned of the button and opened up PC

First thing I checked if my gpu is OK as I purchased it 2weeks ago..

GPU
NO Smell
NO fire mark
NO wire burned

MOBO
NO smell
NO fire mark
NO wire burned.

PSU
BURN Smell
NO fire mark visible as it us black already
NO wires burned

So is my GPU safe???

My config is i5 2310
8gb ram
GTX760 Asus oc dc2
500w cheap company...

Hi sonyuyos,
replace your psu asap,
I personally would not use that psu at all now untill you get new one it can cause serious damage to your system if it surges or blows up
get a good brand with a good warranty , 750w to 850w will give you a fair bit of headroom
evga supernova have 10 year warranty
corsair 7 years

Hi well I am getting seasonic 850w M12II

BUT THE thing is I want to know if my GFx is safe?

As its not smelling at all...and will it be underwarrenty if it is burned as I bought few days back only..

Check the warranty terms and conditions, make sure you look up those for your country, they vary, but this kind of damage is rarely covered.
You're spending more than you need on a powersupply, 650Watts would be more than enough for a single card system, even if overclocked.
Only way to tell if everything is OK without specialist diagnostic equipment is to plug in the new PSU and turn the system on!
