dns server not found in win 8.1

Hi all
Wifi network is up connevtion set but since dns server is somehow corrupted or down or inaccesible I cant conect internet. I tried different dns like google etc dont work. I tried on different networks and devices it is spevific to this laptop. I am on Windows 8.1 the modem is intel centrino n 2230. Cant connect to Internet and check drivers on my laptop. This del inspiron 15r.

Hi

If you go to cmd prompt

type ipconfig /all
this will list your settings

ipconfig /all > %tmp%\ip.txt

sends this data to a file in temp location

my DNS was 192.168.1.1 which is my router (connected by ethernet cable)

on a laptop with Wireless both DNS & DHCP servers are at 192.168.1.1

your address is likely to be 192.168.n.n



if you post the ipconfig settings and address of the wireless router
some one may spot what is wrong

Microsoft has fixit software for many problems which may be abole to sort this out
(make sure you only download this from Microsoft)

Hi Mike, I tried that before, manual entry of DNS server does not help. The funky thing is that sometimes, rarely, I could connect, but not anymore. The drivers seems to be updated, I dont think it is the driect consequence of Win 8.1 upgrade. Somehow I cant clear DNS cache
