My first guess is RAM.

You can test all sticks together, but it won't tell you which one is bad.

You really should test one at a time, and it could take all night to find small errors.
Large errors will show up on the first pass.

I usually run 1 pass with all sticks to start with.

The hard drive can also be tested with software reliably.

Your hard drive manufacturer has a test disk you can download.
They are very reliable.
