Hi guys.
I gave my overheating i7 laptop with a thermal paste to a friend to changing its thermal past. After getting the laptop from him it's screen doesn't show up and remain black, also pressing the power button for some seconds do not turn the laptop off. I did opened the laptop as well as its heat sync and took a picture which is here (click on it to enlarge):

there are two issues with it i think, one is that he did not used enough paste for cpu as the copper part of heat sync seams did not touched any thermal paste (the RED circle in the picture) and other one is that some thermal compound is leaked to the edges of cpu and connected two jacks (the GREEN circle in the picture) as the paste is metal, doesn't it make any issues?

Can you please let me know your though about whether the past is applied good or not?
cheers

The best thermal compound made is only about 2 degrees cooler than plane old silicone.

Not worth it in my opinion, unless you are overclocking to the hilt, and need every degree you can get.

You can't hurt anything with silicone.

Used thermal compound is liquid ultra which is 100% metal (based on description on its package and link).

Are you sure that shortening that two jacks may lead to dead CPU?
I have no idea about those connected two jacks with compound.
