Is there a difference between RAM and Branded RAM?

If I had some Branded RAM (Eg Corsair), and some ordinary unbranded RAM.
Both having the same latency, same Capacity and speeds (MHz).
Would they have any slight/major differences, besides looks, price and possible heatspreads?

There are only a small handful of DRAM chip manufacturers in the world.

The big three are Samsung, Hynix, and Micron. Several others such as Elpida and Qimonda have been acquired or entered bankruptcy.

Samsung is their own biggest consumer.

Hynix is found under their own label, but more commonly under name brands such as Corsair, G.Skill, and Mushkin. I believe that most consumer retail DRAM comes from Hynix.

Micron is found under the Crucial brand, as well as in some other products.

The different at the retail point is the level of testing and customer service that the rebranding company provides. Corsair, Mushkin, G.Skill, etc... buy DRAM ICs in bulk from the manufacturer and assemble them onto PCBs. They are responsible for selection and testing, as well as for providing end user support when modules fail.

This is not rebranding, the DRAM makers buy the ICs from the IC/chip makers, they then do their own binning of ICs and make the actual DIMMs....Rebranding is like the AMD sticks that are actuallly Vision Tek and Patriot sticks that are rebranded to carry the AMD 'brand' name
