I decided to upgrade my current gpu's to a single card. I was wondering which card is better and why? The cards I want to upgrade to are the gtx 780 and the r9 290(non x). Which card should I buy? Will my psu be able to power these cards?

My specs

CPU: fx 4350 @4.4 ghz
Gpu 1 : hd 6670
Gpu 2: hd 6670
Psu: ultra ls 600
Motherboard: gigabyte 970A-UD3
8 gigs of ram @2200mhz

Solution
you know you're right they are too close to call they both almost have the same performance. To be honest they both bottleneck a gtx 780 or an r9 290 the only thing you can think of getting is the 8320 or 8350.
Your CPU will hugely bottleneck both cards, first buy new CPU at least FX-6300 and after new graphics card.
And for graphics card 290 is better a bit but make sure that it's cheaper than 780 and also comes with an aftermarket cooler on it!

Edit: also think about getting better PSU to run both cards!

fx 6300 is 3x much better than the 4350. the fx 6300 is better with more cores and will not bottleneck the two cards you suggested the 780 is better than the r9 290 at slightly more fps. as for the psu an XFX 650 Bronze or XFX 550 bronze or CX600 bronze or CX750 Bronze should do the trick.

I wouldn't recommend "CX" line PSU, XFX 650W is much better

The fx 6300 is not 3x better than the fx 4350 especially if it is overclocked. The fx 6300 is better in multi threaded applications but the fx 4350 has better single core performance. I would not buy the fx 6300 b/c the performance would not improve very much. However you said that the fx 6300 would not bottleneck an gtx 780, could you give me a link that shows this?
Thanks for the psu advice.

See it's better just to say that instead of saying that one is 3x better than the other when they trade blows in performance

Don't worry, the advice you gave me was still good. Still not many people know that the fx 4350 is a good choice compared to the fx 6xxx since it has better single core performance and it supposedly can oc more. The fx 4350 is very, very underrated since is programs that don't use more than four cores it performs identically to the fx 8350/6350 and it is much cheaper.
