no signal from any port, unless video card is uninstalled, then only VGA.

I have an older Acer Aspire 5800 I am trying to turn into a backup rig. So, here is the fun part. One day it was shut off for whatever reason (it was a hard shutdown just pressed the power button till it turned off). After It was turned back on none of the video ports were putting out a signal. I could hear the PC boot fine. Just no signal. So, after about an hour of switching inputs on tv/cable switching on PC I removed the video card and rebooted with the onboard HDMI and no signal. So I unplug the HDMI and plug in the VGA. Boom. Works. So I immediately go in and make sure the PCIE is set to priority in BIOS and then uninstall the Intel drivers in windows. turn off the pc, install the video card and boot it back up to go through the process of reinstalling the drivers for the video card, Nope. Nothing. No ports give a signal again. when the video card is installed no ports put out a signal and only VGA works with it uninstalled.
So, I've put all the latest Updates from windows on it, I've made sure the very limited set of BIOS settings are correct. I have the most recent BIOS (pretty sure). I can't think of what would be the next step. Here's the obligatory list of components.

windows 7 Pro
Acer g43t-am3 Mobo
Intel core 2 quad
Radeon HD 7850
550W PSU

Also this machine uses the Intel G45/G43 express chipset That I suspect is taking priority somehow, I've read a few posts that explain it has issues, but nothing that explains what to do about it.

This guy has the same trouble it seems his checklist is identical and never got an answer.. https://communities.intel.com/message/197712

Any help would be amazing! thanks everyone!

after quite a bit of work. I found that it was indeed the Chipset drivers. I could not get rid of them, most persistent Drivers I have ever dealt with. I was deleting them but for some reason the G45/G43 chipset would not turn display responsibilities over to the Generic VGA controllers. So my suggestion for anyone having a similar problem to download DDU (display driver uninstaller) and cleaning ALL the existing intel/amd/nvidia drivers out fully with that program and not just uninstalling them in device manager and then follow standard Graphics card installation procedure.

I knew that would be the first question :), and I almost put it in the post that it was absolutely not a cabling issue.
Yes, I'm sure the 6 pin is connected. thanks.
Also, we'll go ahead and clear this up, the video card has been secured as functional and is not malfunctioning. It works fine within another machine.

How much time has passed since you bought this pc? It is weird that both the on-board HDMI and pci-e slot has gone bad. Did any power surge or any thing like that happened to that computer. If the VGA cable is giving the display then this means that your HDMI slot has gone bad. Try going in to your BIOS and see what is set as first initial display.

It's an older computer, maybe 4 years. In BIOS the only option is to set PCIE to initiate first this is indeed the chosen option. No other options are available and absolutely nothing about HDMI or Video options are present. Very old, very simple BIOS but the most current that ACER has on their site for the Aspire M5800.

no other working video cards function in this port. I wonder what the chances are of both the HDMI port and the PCIE port going bad at the same time? seems kind of unlikely. I've read that there are issues within the chipset that may be causing this issue. Now I can't find the article. duh

ALSO!!! After I posted this I realized that the HDMI still did not work once drivers were installed. I attempted the last ditch once over. I had gone over all the connections NUMEROUS times. However, as I was using my current computer and the computer I was updating on the same television they were both plugged in. so I unplugged my current computer/left it unplugged and unplugged and replugged in the other newly updated computer and voila!. As it appears the tv would not take a constant connection from both sourced computers? i can use other devices at the same time. just not two computers on HDMI maybe its a voltage restraint or something? no clue. I have a Hisense 55k610gwn.
hope this helps!
