Upgrade Dell GX280 cpu

can i change my dell optiplex GX280 desktop cpu from this one :

it's write "pentium 4 541 SL9C6 costa rica 3.20 GHZ/1M/800/04A "

To this one :

it's write "pentium D 915 SL9KB malay 2.8 GHZ/4M/800/05A"

I'm using dell optiplex GX280 motherboard

I'm not sure, because in this two articles about your MB and chipset, it says the MB support Pentium 4 and Celeron and Celeron D, not Pentium D. Take a look:

no, you don't. it is useless to change from pentium 4 to pentium D. better to upgrade the socket 1150 motherboard and get pentium G 3220.

I would not take the risk, because both have different lithography, max tdp and voltage range. And your chipset do not support Pentium D, only Celeron D.

intel pentium D need intel 945 chipset to work. i think your motherboard has 915 chipset right?

Use Speccy by Piriform (www.piriform.com/speccy). But I'm pretty sure it's not possible. The two articles are official from Dell and Intel.
