Hello about a month ago I bought a new laptop. I got sims 3, need for speed MW 2 and GTA IV to play and after about a few minutes of playing any of these games my laptop powers off. I can't even create a sim.

My laptop model is: HP 2000-2D11DX
Here are my specs I do not overclock my laptop:

Intel i3-3110M @ 2.40GHZ
8 GB ram
Windows 8.1 (I still had the same problem before i upgraded from 8.0)
64 bit
Intel HD 4000 Graphics

I used FurMark to stress test my gpu and after about 10 minutes my laptop shutsdown with no warning:
Here is the gpu info just before the shutdown:

GPU Core Clock [MHz]:
1000.0

GPU Memory Clock [MHz]:
666.7(evil number -_-)

GPU Temperature [°C]
64.0

GPU Power [W]
11.4

GPU Load [%]
95 - 100

Memory Usage (Dedicated) [MB]
0

Memory Usage (Dynamic) [MB]
241
;
I have a laptop cooler and I never block the fan.
I think my max GPU temp is 64.0 because it has never went any higher even with the extra fan turned off.
Is there a way I can Reset, Edit or Change the max GPU temp to 75c or 80c?
I know my cpu and ram are not the problem.

Solution
Sounds like your processor overheats and shuts down to protect itsself.
One thing you could do is not run stress tests on a laptop running an intel hd graphics solution, cause along with the heat from the cpu cores the gpu stress will just overheat the whole thing.
A second thing you could do is go to power options and set the processor cooling to active.

Thanks for being the first to reply. I took apart my laptop and found a big black plastic flap covering the ram so moved it out of the way so it can get air. I played skyrim on medium for about a 1 hour and 30 minutes and it never crashed and so I got bored and quit playing.
