So I went on to alienware's website to build a so called dream gaming pc. I loaded up the aurora with options and the total came out to be like 4200, or like 120/month. this is the stats on it.

cpu -Intel® Core™ i7-4930K processor (6-cores, 12MB Cache, Overclocked up to 4.1 GHz w/ Turbo Boost)

windows 7 home premium.

3 years of support and accidental damage coverage.

Alienware Aurora with ALX Chassis

their premium liquid cooling option

gpu- Dual NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 780 graphics with 6GB total (2x 3GB) GDDR5 - NVIDIA SLI® Enabled

memory-16GB (4 X 4GB) Quad Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz

hard drive- 512GB SSD 6Gb/s MAIN + 1TB 7200RPM Storage

optical drive -Single Drive: 24X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) w/double layer write capability

sound card -Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio

and 3 years of mcafee antivirus.

not suer what exact mobo is in this prebuilt pc either..

what im asking is this worth that money? could i build the same pc myself for cheaper? can i build a better pc for that much? im really not sure atm and i would take any build help! I want amazing gaming expierence and I dont want to have to purchase upgrades for a little while which is what made me lean towards that alienware setup.

IMO a setup that powerful would only make sense driving multiple monitors at VERY high resolutions. And yes, you could build your own version of their super-system minus a few bells and whistles for much less. I'm sure some other members would be happy to suggest the parts. That system is quite a luxurious splurge but if you got a whole lot of money then why not I guess.

If you are just gaming, you are wasting tons of money.
I guarantee you wouldn't notice the difference in gaming between that system and a $2000 computer you build yourself.

Those processors are more for video editing, or other programs that can take advantage of 6 cores, and hyper threading.

Paying for an anti virus is silly, especially mcafee.

mobo asus sabertooth 990 r2
gpu radeon 7950

i could just upgrade this i guess, but kinda wanted to move over to intel... so i guess im asking for a new intel build or best bet for upgrading this..

No, don't waste money on a whole new system when the system you have is great already. Just get a new GPU and you should be good to go.
