There is no 4GB GTX-780 maybe GTX-770? Also there is no 6GB GTX-780 only GTX-Titan has 6GB VRAM!
And answer is, no you cannot SLI two different cards, but you still can make SLI and CrossFireX in one PC

The 6gb card would be limited to the card with less memory.
You CAN, but you would waste money doing so.

Yes as Gam3r01 said you'll probably able to SLI but it will limited to lower VRAM card!

would the cards memory size be an issue or just add together? I though cards bottleneck at the memory and core clocks not the size.

SLI or crossfire memory does not add! Vram is mirrored so this is how it works;

2+2=2GB

2+4=2GB

4+4=4GB

4+6=4GB

6+6=6GB

A waste of money, you need the same Vram amount for it to be the same for both, otherwise it is cut back to the lowest amount of Vram on the card for both.
