Wondering if my wi-fi card is dying

I am running Windows 7 SP1 on a Dell Latitude E6500 laptop.

Recently I've been having frequent and annoying disconnections from the wireless router in my house. It's a dual-band Netgear WNDR3700, and I connect to the 5Ghz band. In fact, just a few minutes ago I lost connectivity to the 'Net, and ended up with this as my status:

Before the status changed to "no network access," it said "no Internet access."

The problem can be "solved" only by disabling and re-enabling the adapter in the Network and Sharing Center. The last time it happened, I decided to use the Windows network troubleshooter to fix it; it reset the adapter and told me that "The default gateway is not available."

This is not a router issue; no other device in the house loses wi-fi when I do. And when this happens, the connection is strong - 5 bars. So it doesn't appear to be interference.

Could this be my wi-fi card crapping out? The computer is almost 4 years old.

Thanks for any suggestions you might have...

Following up on my own post: Even though Windows 7 device manager told me I had the most up-to-date driver for my wireless card, I went to the Intel site and found one more recent than the one that was installed. So I updated it, and the problem seems to be resolved. I wonder if the old driver had just gotten corrupted or something.
