I am looking to get a UPS. I know any is better than none (have surge protector now)

I would be connecting
42' HDTV
blu ray player
external hdd
Laptop

I am not looking to run them for a day if power goes out, just about 5-10 minutes to shutdown properly.

Preferably looking about 75 but may go up to $150 depending on answers.

Also, do they all "clean" up the power or do only the higher ones do that.

Thanks to all whom read this and thanks in advance to all whom respond.

The ONLY device you listed that needs a battery backup is the external HDD. The television and blu-ray player do not necessarily need to run through a shutdown sequence. And of course your laptop has a battery.

You could try any variant of these UPS bricks: http://amzn.com/B001985SWW

Should you want to clean the AC power, you could buy a power conditioner with fused surge protection.

If you're in an area prone to power failure and/or lighting strikes, any power strip with fused surge protection is recommended. Until you purchase a UPS you can change the write-caching policy settings of the external hard drive for some added protection. You can read this...

Just buy any one 600 plus vs ups for good backup. I run 1 kva for my desktop with 22 inch monitor and 650w psu computer. Get one from good brand and efficency. APC is quite good. Don't consider laptop and external hdd since they will be powered by laptop battery.

Thanks for reply. I had thought about that but, external HDD is AC powered (various reasons and I keep it home) and second was to protect laptop AC adaptor 170w....cannot just go to any store for replacement).
