Hi,

I am planning on installing linux on one of my partitions. In total, I have 3 partitions, and I want to install Ubuntu on one. The problem is though, the last time I installed it, it never booted up, or let me get onto windows (or ubuntu). It just stopped at the "Hardware monitor" screen.

My hard drive set up:

SDD - 120GB - Main Windows Disk (C:)
HDD - 1TB - Games, movies, etc (E:)
HDD - 220GB - Split into 3 partitions:
-Programming - 46.5GB(F:)
-Media - 115GB (D:)
-docs - 58.7GB (H:)  <--- I want to install linux on this partition

How can I install Linux? What steps would I have to take in the installation process?

Thanks.

You have to dual boot.
It has to be installed on C: as far as I know.
Linux will change the boot program to Linux, usually Grub.
Grub will ask what program WIN or Linux.

Unless you are going to change first boot drives each time you boot to the other system.

It should have booted into windows though, as it would have no way to know Linux was installed on the 220GB drive.

If you just want to try it, all Linux distros, run from the CD, without installing to the hard drive.
