'Rendering, in it's simplest form, is basically the process of exporting the video from your editing software as a video file to be uploaded. It does take a while, depending on your computer.'

So it takes shorter time to render video after you finished editting but does it actually help while using final cut or sony vegas, while editing?

Video rendering? You are doing light stuff so an i7 will be sufficient. It is an all purpose core so you should be good. But the highest quality rendering build I've seen is a 40 core 1tb ram xeon e7 for 40,000. That stuff is used for games and sometimes movies. Sometimes it is all in the MOBO. Macs are well known for being video editing gods.

So for a casual video editor making youtube content the difference between i5 and i7 will only come down to time it takes to covert video files. But won't affect any aspect of editing phase while working in Sony Vegas for example?

Just trying to make sense advantages I gain before making a choice.

(PS: The pleasure is mine!)

Another alternative, if you don't plan on overclocking, is to get a xeon 1230v3. This cpu has the hyperthreading that an i7 has but at prices closer to the i5. It might be worth considering. Just keep in mind that you can't overclock with a xeon
