ASUS M5A88-V EVO AM3+ AMD 880G is powering on for 5 seconds before the Red DRAM LED flashes once, then it shuts down and it can't be turned back on via the power button on the front of the case after that. To get it to come back on, I have to unplug it and wait 10 seconds or so. When I plug it back in, it restarts - with out me pushing the power button - and shuts off again.

This is not a new build and everything had been working fine for the last year or so until I got a nasty static shock while pressing the power button to turn it on the other day. That is when this all started.

I thought that the PSU was damaged so I tried my PSU in my friends computer and it was fine. I re-seated everything and have tried my memory sticks one at a time in all available slots. I took the mobo out and checked underneath for any visible shorts and could see nothing. Is it just time to call it a day and get a new mobo, or is it possible that something else is causing my problem?

Thanks in advance for your help.
