I have upgraded from the gigabyte gtx 780 to the gigabyte r9 290x. I used guru3d's driver sweeper to get rid of the nvidia drivers, then right after that I installed the amd drivers. I have tried the latest driver and the beta driver multiple times and I still get the same issue. When I install the driver, I see the screen flashing while its updating and during that time the mouse is working just fine then when it is fully installed it goes back to giant cursor again.

I have enable shadowing on my mouse, and it has the pointer reduce in size. I thought I was in the clear, but when I hover the mouse over a text box it enlarges when the mouse changes to the text selection form (looks like a giant I in times new roman font). I am stumped. I looked everywhere and I cannot get it to go back to normal size.

Some one please help!

a little workaround. users with the same problem reported that the problem goes away after you put your pc in sleep mode.

Hm...my computer has been in sleep mode multiple times when I leave it idle and i have restarted it about 5 times. I come back to it and it is the same way. Maybe I am just unlucky.

I turned off sleep mode in my computer though.

I guess one more shot at it wouldn't hurt. Stay tuned for the results!

Unless you are meaning that I have to manually put my computer to sleep instead of letting it do it automatically.

Then there is something that I might need to try.

are you on the latest bios software? another possible workaround: http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=454&th... 5th post

I was actually just about to ask about that! I just now went into my bios set up and reverted back to factory defaults, but it did not seem to work. I was going to ask how to update the bios. I am not as computer savvy as I would like to be, so maybe if you know something about it could point me in the right direction.

I have the asrock 970 extreme 3 R2.0

if that is of any help.

the top one of the list i guess. for instructions click the red plus. I got to warn you tho, proceed at your own risk. flashing bios is not that tricky but it can go wrong. (you might want to google a little more info about it)
