My friend and I were working on his build because we just got 2 new GPUs (560 Ti's!). We turned off his computer and took out the current GPU, and then plugged in the 560's. Once we put everything back together and tried to boot, the build was unresponsive. We put in and removed everything correctly, with no power to the system. After that the old GPU was put back in to try for a boot and once again it didn't work. We checked everything and made sure that the computer was put together correctly and it was. The motherboard IS getting power because the green light is on, the front panel connectors are put on the board in the correct position and with the pos and neg in the right place. The CPU does have power. The computer is in an outlet that has enough power to run the build. We don't know what the problem is.

We have tried resetting the CMOS and also taking out the CMOS battery and replacing it.

Thanks for your time and help.

It is most definitely trash. You could have fried it even trying to power it on. The PSU is 1000% the most important part of a rig and NEVER EVER to be cheaped out on. Replace it ASAP with a quality unit, Corsair, Antec, XFX, Seasonic before it does any more damage or completely ruins the computer. A cheap PSU can fail easily and damage or completely ruin every single part inside a PC.

Hello man

Honorable

Sounds more sinister. When you press the power button, does anything happen? Check the area where the power button cords plug into the MOBO. See if one was knocked during GPU installation.

@tinyvoices The PSU has enough wattage to run both cards and even if it doesn't, we tried booting the original card that we KNOW did have enough power to run.
@helloman None of the front panel connectors were disconnected. I even tried to disconnect all of the connectors and put them back in. I am 100% sure that they are in correctly. Would it be possible that somehow the front panel connectors were disconnected from the power button itself? The computer does nothing at all when tried to boot.

I understand that a PSU is a very important part of a computer. But we know that the PSU isn't the problem. Whenever we plug in the PSU and all cables are connected. The motherboard shows a green light which means it has power. The old GPU that we were using (GeForce GTX 760) has a light on it that turns green when it has power. I doubt that the PSU is the problem.

You could have fried the PSU. The motherboard getting a green light really means nothing. The motherboard uses barely 30w when it is in FULL load so even a junk low end or damaged PSU could supply that easily. I would replace the PSU ASAP.

Also, you know that two gtx560TIs in SLI won't really be any better and will probably be a but worse than a 760 right?

Even a single 560ti Pulls WELL over 50% more power than a 760. The PSU is low quality and probably makes no where near 750w. I'm guessing you damaged the PSU.
