dear community,

I have the following TV: philips model 32pfl4505df/f7

now, it is a 1080P tv, and it has HDMI inputs, and sometimes when I have the house to myself I want to use it as a computer monitor for my desktop. for some reason, however, while it says 1920x1080 is the native resolution, when I use that setting, the screen seems too small for the display- that is, that the stuff on the computer goes too far off the screen, as if the ratio is messed up. my startbar is completely off the screen at that setting, and in order to actually have it fit the TC< it wants to use the 1360x768 format, which I find is a bit too.... big for my liking. Is there any way to make this TV run a "bigger" resolution and still stay within the boundries of the screen?

Solution
you have to shape the GPU output to the TV... AMD, Nvidia, and Intel GPU's have a scaling tool that lets you match the GPU to the TV...

thanks guys. I was getting a little lost because the TV doesnt have any settings (visible anyhow) that ask about oiverscan or ratio or anything, so, using the scaling in the nVidia control panel did the trick
