As the title says I am looking for the best mechanical gaming keyboard. I play mostly fps games so I don't need macros or anything of that nature, I type a decent amount so I like cherry mx blue switches but I always see people saying reds or browns are the best for gaming so I'm not sure which switch I should pick, and I would love a wrist rest but not mandatory. Also wired is a must and features such as back lighting, media keys, and disabling the windows key would be nice but again is not mandatory. If I forgot to mention anything please ask and thanks in advance!

The difference between switches in the keys are the tactile feedback aka the clicky sound. I'm typing on a razor Black Widow ultimate 2013. Its a nice keyboard but has few issues with the software if you use synopses.

For 30$ you can pick up a blue backlit mech keyboard, how ever its silly to get one if you only play fps. its more for people who play MMORPG's or Topdown strategy games such as wow,lol,DOTA2/dota because you press the keys so fast a normal keyboard wouldnt be able to take more then 3/100ms standard timing.

I recommend one of these: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/thermaltake-keyboard-kbmek...

How ever, any good logitech keyboard will be more then enough for you.

Obviously out of stock right now in that particular color and switch but I think that is what I am going with. Anyone own or used a ducky shine?

at 149.99 you might as well get the black widow ultimate from razor.

But why do you need a so-called gaming keyboard if you only play fps?

It doesnt have any macros or anything its not a gaming keyboard in that aspect. It has backlighting, its able to disable the windows key, and has function keys for the media. Also I have heard the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate isn't a good competitor at that price point because of things like drivers, etc.

Iv had a few hiccups with the synopsis software back in the day, no real issues any more.
my keyboard makes some 55-65 lumens of light. About as much as halfway brightness on a 2011 macbook air.
it has a option built into the keyboard to disable windows, media keys, usb passthough on the side as well as headphone and microphone jacks.
Makes sure your looking here: http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-keyboards-keypads/razer...

The ducky keyboards are known to be bottem-end on fetures, giving you only what you need, but they do get expensive.

Does it only come with blue switches? If so I am not going to get it because I want red switches preferrably or brown switches. Any good keyboards with red or browns in them?

blue is the click. If you dont want the clicky, then a normal membrane keyboard is good for you. Again, the need of having a mech is if you play some MMO/Stagy game where your pressing the key combos that add up to 4 or more or want to hear the tactile feedback that comes from blue switches. many membrane keyboards are silent and emulate the feel of the keypress.

the first 3 of these do.

No offense and I appreciate the input but I didn't ask if I should get a mechanical keyboard I asked which was the best keyboard with red/brown switches, hopefully a wrist rest, media keys, and maybe backlighting. Just because I don't want blue switches doesn't mean I shouldn't get or don't need a mechanical keyboard.

Yeah I used to own one of those a year or so ago but it wasn't worth the cost then but now it will be. I had one with blues and they were nice but I would like a more linear switch which is why I'm going to go with the reds but I can't decide between that ducky I suggested before and others such as das'. I like the backlighting modes, media keys, etc. but if there is a keyboard with better quality/features please share.

the ducky is nice, has back lights and i thought media keys, and you can buy a big wrist rest on amazon.

There is a new gaming software called fingerz. Check www.finger-z.com, as far as i know it will come out in no more than 2 weeks time. Type in youtube , fingerz DC universe or fingerz mortal kombat or fingerz guild wars 2 in order to see videos. Looks gooood and it is very cheap. Created from gamers
