Need Help with Case Fan Setup

Ok so I am at the point where I have to install my case fans and I need help setting them up. I want to be able to control my fans through my motherboard but have the ease of using molex cables where everything is hidden.. I want to connect all my fans to a molex cable and use an adapter to my motherboard. Would this setup work?

I doubt that Your motherboard would be able to provide the amps needed for all Your case fans off one connector.

There are two ways to manage the fan speed,

1. Through software such as speedfan etc (requires hardware monitor chip on motherboard). For this solution you will only be able to control the fans that connect directly to the motherboard which means only 1-2 fans.
2. Via hardware such as:

What kind of motherboard do you have?

But it would be connected to the power supply. Basically a molex cable from the PSU to the case header and then an adapter to the motherboard.

I have an Asus Maximus IV Hero. I just want to have all the cables hidden and control the fan speed through software.

To connect the fans to your motherboard means taking power from it too. You would need a fan controller + molex power.

By fan controller do you mean the one at the front of the case? I have molex power and an adapter to the motherboard.

Unfortunately the way you are wanting to do it will not work.

You would need to get a drive bay mounted fan controller to have control over all the fans:
