Hi all

Just bought a copy of windows 8.1 and a new SSD as I've been advised that its a good thing for gaming, just wondering if I should also upgrade my old CPU (i5 2500k) as I'm looking to play BF4 and similar games, I have a 780 GTX as my GPU and 16GB ram.

Cheers

Dude, you are fine. I have a 2500k, it only overclocks to 4.3 GHz when it wants to (automatic O.C. profile) and I just got a 780 GTX Classified 2 weeks ago, as well as a SSD on a fresh install and it's silky smooth. I don't have BF4, but I did try out BF3 one last time before uninstalling it. You didn't mention your screen setup, but I run 1200p on my monitor, or 1080p on my TV. If you're going to do anti-aliasing, increase mesh quality, or ambient occlusion, just make sure your BIOS is setup to auto-overclock your CPU when needed.
