ok you connected to GPU's VGA port or Motherboard's VGA port? If you connected to Motherboards VGA port that will not work when PCI-E Installed.

Try DVI or HDMI it will work ;)

Okay the VGA cable is connected to the DVI port on the graphics card to the VGA port on the monitor do what you said has mad no difference. Im trying to figure out if the gpu or monitor is faulty.

I have also disabled the onboard graphics in the bios and in the pc so it only uses the gpu.

So You are using VGA to DVI adapter ? ;)

I think adapter is faulty.Get proper DVI to DVI or HDMI to HDMI Cord. That will be solution for this problem.

Probably you have a problem with your monitor. If everything is okay with another monitor, same condition, then your monitor is being choosy. It's either compatibility issues or it's somewhat defective.
