I've built a build for myself for the first time with the help of another friend but I'd like some practice and I'd like to continue building so Im helping a friend start a build

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3hogP

Budget: $2000 but Im trying to keep it under $1600 to save money for him
Purpose: Gaming, Engineering use (Autocad/Rhino), and all around longevity
I'd like for this build to last several years

Case: NZXT h440
GPU: Gigabyte 770, 2gb
CPU: Intel i5 4670k
PSU: EVGA 650, 80+ Gold
Memory: crucial Ballistics 8gb (4 x 2)
Storage: 120 gb samsung 840 SSD
1TB HDD Seagate barracuda
Motherboard: Asus VI formula
Cooling: Noctua NH-U9B SE2 37.9 CFM CPU Cooler
Asus VX238H-W 23.0" Monitor

I'd like for this build to last a while, so I haven't skimped out on a graphics card but im not going all out 780 monster truck, no point, i see a 770 as more than enough
I may switch the i5 for an i7 simply for future uses, he doesn't use Autocad yet but he's an engineering student that will get to it eventually

Im kinda worried about the case, it doesn't have a lot of ventilation but it does keep a good check on the noise
Any cases out there that 1) look sexy 2) Has good ventilation 3) Decent job with keeping sound in check 4) less than $180?

*The ultimate purpose of this build I'd say is to last several years, 10+ if its possible,
He'll be changing parts every 3-5 years or so just to make sure the system stays running smoothly but a beast that can hold its own is much appreciated
** I've never OC'ed so im not going to do it for him or recommend it for him

Try this.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($319.99 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($30.98 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty Z87 Killer ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($119.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($84.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($85.98 @ Newegg)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($64.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 770 2GB Video Card (2-Way SLI) ($309.99 @ NCIX US)
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 770 2GB Video Card (2-Way SLI) ($309.99 @ NCIX US)
Case: NZXT H440 (Red/Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($119.78 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: XFX ProSeries 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($99.99 @ NCIX US)
Monitor: Asus VX238H-W 23.0" Monitor ($129.99 @ Newegg)
Keyboard: Cooler Master CM Storm Devastator Gaming Bundle Wired Gaming Keyboard w/Optical Mouse ($32.98 @ Newegg)
Total: $1694.64
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

-Better CPU for AutoCAD due to hyperthreading
-Cheaper CPU cooler as the Haswell cpus don;t get too hot in the first place
-Cheaper motherboard, there is no good reason to buy the Formula unless your friend will be doing custom liquid cooling
-Faster RAM
-SLI 770s > 780
-Better PSU

As for the case, the H440 doesn't have incredible ventilation, but it will still keep the components cool. If you are worried about temps, just throw some Corsair AF120s in there.

Thanks
yeah I wasn't too sure about the cooling so I just went straight to Noctua because of it reputation
As for SLI 770s, its a bit overkill, i may just stick to one 770 or bump it to 780(which is still overkill but cheaper)
Im curious, would the change in ram speed make much of a difference?

The change in RAM speeds will make a slight difference, whether they are noticeable or not i'm not sure, but they will be a bit faster. As for the GPU(s), I choose 770 SLI because it is so good for the price. You get more performance than a 780, for about $50-100 more, and about the same as a 780 Ti for a good $200 less.
