Hi, recently my laptop CPU keeps spiking. CPU usage spiking as high as 98% useage. So my question is, is there anyway to tell what is making my CPU spike?

My CPU is Intel i7-3610QM 2.30 GHz

you could check in the windows, I forget the name but it is in administrative tools. You can select cpu and it shows you every process/service the cpu is working on and how much power they are taking. It's like task manager but it has a different name, resource monitor maybe?

You can try monitoring your task manager and sort by process.

there are some core API's running in background with core windows programs . . they trigger when needed . so that's why creates a spike for some instances

Surely it should not spike to 98% though seems a bit extreme. Always why has it randomly started doing it now, I have owned this laptop for 2 years now and not had this problem once. It might just be from stress but I can't really find a good way to monitor it accurately.

do your front end processes halts . like if you running any game or something . if you fill lag or halt so there is an issue otherwise nothing to worry about
