Hi
I found a Hyper TX3 EVO with no warranty for a good price. I have an AM3+ motherboard and some people say it can only be mounted to blow air upward or downward while others say it can be mounted to blow air in any direction. I have two questions: 1. Is it worth getting, I currently have the stock cooler and the Hyper 212 EVO is not available where I live.
2. Will I be able to mount it so that ir can blow air towards the rear exhaust fan?

Thank you for your . I got it, put it with the thermal grease that comes with it -until I get MX-4- And running Prime95 temperatures under full CPU load are around 45-46 c which is pretty impressive considering that with the stock cooler It used to climb all the way up to the sixties and even seventies when slightly overclocked (I have yet to test its performance under an overclock). The only issue is that it is making two noises, a humming noise which is a little irritating and I think is actually caused by air turbulence, and the HSF itself which for some reason is going full blown even when not on full load even though I put it on Auto in BIOS and I disabled smart fan target. I'll try to check the BIOS options again!

't was on auto but I enabled it and didn't seem to change anything. The only thing that seems to work is setting the smart fan target to a certain value and lowering the minimum RPM of the fan. I think the noise may have been induced mainly by the 'Push' configuration but I could be wrong. I don't know if I should set it in a 'Pull; configuration instead and how much would that impact the cooling performance.

It doesn't. I lowered the min RPM to 1200 and it only goes up about 50 rpm but that it, and the speed is stuck at that point. It was the same with my stock cooler as well, it was always hitting its max rpm regardless of load. The temps increased to the point where I had to stop testing, it reached about 64 c. When I sat it back on Auto, the speed back to 100%.

I went back into the BIOS and set the minimum RPM and smart fan target again and it worked, it became much quieter although under load it doesn't keep the CPU at 40 c, it keeps it in the lower 50's with the RPM not exceeding 2000 RPM or so which is about 65% of the 100% RPM of the fan. Still it easily beats the stock cooler, I remember when I first got the FX-6300 and ran Prime95 it got all the way up to 67 c and that is as stock speed! With Prime95 running now I am in the lower 50's and that is at 65% the max RPM. Really those little Aluminium cubes AMD ship with their 100 and sub 100 watt chips are worthless for cooling anything with 95 or 100 TDP.
