I currently use coolermaster V10 for my Intel Core i7 960 @ 3200 MHz CPU . Although I am extremely happy with its cooling performance, I find it too noisy. Is there a cooler with similar cooling specs but not so noisy. The more silent the better. The silent/performance ratio is in higher priority than the price.

The Noctua NH-D14 is really great. It runs quiet and performs well as it is made for overclocking.
One thing! Make sure you have enough room for it on your motherboard and in your case.

Why not just replace the fans on your current cooler with Noctua NF-F12s that even have a ultra quiet lower RPM adapter for seriously quiet performance.
