I want to move my windows 7 installation from my 120gb SSD to a new 250gb SSD I just bought. I am always running out of room on the smaller one. If I just install the new drive and reinstall windows 7 on the new drive, will it set the old installation of windows 7 as old? Do I have to set the boot drive afterwards or will it be all automatic?

Thanks!

Solution
you can use a cloning tool like acronis true image to clone your old drive to the new one.no need to reinstall windows.then, after you set the new drive as boot drive you can format the old drive.you will have to go into the bios and set your new drive as the first boot device.

once I clone and set the new drive as boot, it will boot to the new drive with no problem?
