When playing games like minecraft my GPU and CPU are low I guess because it all depends on how demanding the game is. But when I benchmark with Unigine The GPU is always at 99 or 98 but the CPU is usually below the 50's. Is there something wrong with my PC? Bottleneck?

*EDIT* My framerate in Benchmarking is always in the 50's and in Minecraft above the 120's but I haven't tested it in games like BF4.

More about : high gpu usage low cpu usage

At a first glance I would say it's perfectly normal as Unigine is more a GPU benchmark than a CPU benchmark. If your fps in Unigine were below 30 and you would have a brand new 780 than yes it would be a problem.. In any modern game the GPU is what's really doing the work the CPU is not really important in gaming. What's your specs?

are your frames per second being set to a limit in software?

A8-6600K
GTX 660 2GB OC
8GB RAM
650W PSU

And when I tested it in BF4, the CPU is 100% and GPU around 35%. But it seems other people are having that problem but I need to make sure it's not my rig.

in bf4 your cpu is bottlenecking your gpu, by a lot.

Nope turned off all Vsync and frame-limits but in games like BF4 100% GPU and CPU is 70FPS, but then the GPU drops and it goes to 45FPS.

well, im assuming at some point in bf4, the cpu requirement raises. probably in multiplayer with other players in your vacinity. at that point the cpu chokes out the gpu and the gpu performance drops

only thing you can really do is turn up your graphical settings. itll look nicer and you shoudl still get 45 fps. (assuming you dont turn them up too much.)

But won't turning my settings up bottleneck even more?

no, graphical setting do no use the cpu, they use the gpu

Ahhhh I see, I'll play a round on Conquest around Medium/High, hopefully that will bring up my GPU and so my beloved 60-75FPS.

well, it wont raise your fps. your max fps will lower. that cpu is going to bottleneck you no matter what but at least you can have it be a bit more pretty

It's a CPU bottleneck, I just read other post about the same problem and it's most likely a problem on the actual game itself than your PC. I would suggest the same thing Neon suggested, bump up your graphics because if your GPU is running at 35% you can get much more out of it. It won't raise your FPS but It shouldn't drop your FPS by a lot.
