Very frustrated. The MSI R9-290 4G vents all its heat into the case, rather than out the back of the card and its causing my CPU temps to rise by 10C+ over what they would normally be, since my radiator is sucking in hot air. Unless I water cool the GPU, I am at a loss for how to get rid of this heat. I already have 3 intake fans and 2 exhaust. Thoughts?

if the 10C is making your CPU very hot, or just slightly less cool is probably important to the factor of you needing to do anything.

watercool (maybe a Corsair H80i) as replacement to your back fan.
or
turn the fans up in speed

I never went over 53C before on the CPU package temp, and that was when playing Battlefield 4. Now I am routinely hitting 55C when playing much less intense games like Diablo 3. I am already using a water cooler. The issue is that this video card vents into the case. The radiator is right above the videocard, so its using the hot air to cool the water. I can't be the only person having this issue.

it's a well know fact that the 290 cards are running way hot because they ship with such agressive clocking from AMD already...if you don't need all that power you could try to underclock and undervolt the card a little bit this might help, do you have a mid-tower ATX case?

like Paitjsu said, underclock the card. MSI actually gives you a "Quiet" mode which underclocks the card slightly. Try using that

Yeah, its a mid-tower ATX. I could lower the overclock on my CPU, but I am very happy with my performance right now. Its just this heat! If only my case were a bit bigger, I would go to a H100i with push/pull fans. As is I could only fit 2 fans on it if I went to the H100i.

I am actually already using the quiet setting on the videocard. The card is fantastic, minus the heat issues.

i actually use a asus r9 290, H100i, 3 fans and a i5 4670K @ 4.2ghz in my mid-tower case, i can tell you with 2 fans on the H100i pulling air out in quiet mode. I get some fine temps, even when sitting under my table.

55C shouldn't be a concern i think, only if the max temp hit like 65C+
