i was running "call of duty ghosts" tonight when the game froze and there was a annoying loud buzzing noise ... i tried to "ctrl-alt-delete" however it wouldnt work and i had to manually shutdown my system and start it up again
what causes this .. i ask since ive only just installed a HD6790 today and it seems a coincedence that this happens today
another factor to consider is im using a molex to 6pin connector and a 6pin pci-e directly connected to the psu .. but ive been running games ( and 3dmark ) all day without any problems
is this a driver issue ( as i installed the 14.3 beta driver ) or is it something to do with the actual card ....
that said ive had this buzzing sound before but i cant remember which game it was
has anyone any idea what causes this and if its driver or hardware related
many thanks guys !
no.... it just froze showing the last frame image with the loud buzzing noise in the background .... ive since reverted to the previous driver ( since i was using the 14.3 beta driver ) and no freezes since
ive had a similar issue before but cant remember what game it was ... ive also manually increased the gpu fan speed from 25% to 75% ( which isnt that loud on that card )
UPDATE .... as i stated in the last post i reverted back to the last official driver ( 13.2 ) and ive also increased the gpu fan speed to 70% .... i have run far cry 2 for 1 hour solid with no crashes and other games for around 30 minutes ( no crashes ) .... i also ran 3dmark which also completed without any problems
i can remember another game ( using a different card ) that had the same problem, and i had to do a hard reset also .... so im guessing its a driver based issue and probally something to do with the beta driver (14.3) ....
