3/2014? I need a home com computerputer that can connect to GoToMyPC for telecommuting, can run Dragon Naturally Speaking, office. I have, now: laptop and v140 processor 2.3 MHz with 8 GB ram.

My laptop is frequently running around100% of the CPU.

I noticed drop box is one culprit and so is Firefox :(
I know I need to do some software cleanup...but in the meantime I am thinking I may need to graduate to s new system.

On a new computer, ideally, I'd like to have not this problem (cpu near 100%, gets hot).

Software:
Ms office 10
Dragon 12
Windows 7
GoToMyPC
Ms essentials security
Drop box
Firefox
Chrome
IE
Notepad++
Filezilla
Adobe Creative suite (occasionally)
For flash, illustrator.

Your suggestions and thoughts are appreciated.

Will I always have to buy a new computer every 2-3 years? What's the easiest way to mitigate the fallout damage (new software expenses, hard drive changes, being attached to old OS)?

Should I just get a Mac and put windows on there? Will this perform faster than windows on a non-mac PC?

DropBox (desktop install) and a large amount of files (number and volume) can dog out a system, even a well equipped i7. I suggest NOT installing the Desktop DropBox unless you are on a fast Cable connection.

an (Intal) i5 or i7, or (AMD) A8 or A10, CPU with 16GB RAM, 250GB SSD boot Drive and a 2TB data drive with onboard graphics should be fine. Just make sure it is the Desktop CPU SKU and not the Mobile one in the system.

To answer yo title q - DEFO a PC. If u spend t money a Mac would cost u on a well chosen desktop PC, u will hav a great system that can b upgraded when need be rather than replaced every 2-3 years or whatever.

I would recommend a self-build based around a San Disk X210 SSD, or similar... this will b yo most cost-effective solution.

But for minimum hassle get a Mac...
