Just looking for input on the above 2 cards: seem to have similar stats, but one would think that the 4gb card would be faster? I get confused when they start talking about all the varied frequencies between memory & GPU clocks...and it almost seems the 4gb card has a little more speed...again, am I off my rocker (btw, the rest of the components have all been purchased: the final item will be the video card

The amount of VRAM has very little impact on Framerate. The GTX 780 Ti is MUCH faster than the GTX 770. And unless you game at more than 1920x1080 resolution, you won't even use all of the 3GB of VRAM.

Having more VRAM does not make a video card faster, it just means you can run at higher resolutions with more AA and higher quality textures before the game starts to stutter and hitch. However, a 3GB card will last you a good while. Likelihood is that you'll end up upgrading your video card because the GPU simply cannot keep up rather than running out of VRAM. That said, your best bet would be the GTX 780 Ti.

About the only thing you really need to know is that the GTX 780 Ti is roughly twice as powerful as the GTX 770.

This is incorrect. The GTX 780 Ti is approximately 40% faster than a GTX 770 depending on the game that is being played.

Just got a pny 780ti oc for $660 from newegg and couldn't be happier, I would say if budget isn't as much of an issue as performance, get a 780ti or 780 over a 770 4gb. I would only get a 7704gb if you plan to do SLI.

Definitely go with an EVGA GTX 780Ti w/ ACX http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GMTGJIU. It will perform significantly faster than a single GTX 770 4GB and 4GB VRAM is worthless unless you SLI since the 770 doesn't have the bandwidth to utilize 4GB VRAM.

Graphic Memory does not double with 2 cards in SLI. Each card still only has only its own vram to work with.
