So, my computer does not have a wireless card or an antenna, so i was wondering if you guys could help me choose what kind i need.. or where i should look on newegg. I have a gaming pc, not sure if i need to list my rig. But if you guys could let me know what kind of wireless card would be best for me that would be great. Thanks.

If that method works then you likely have pretty good wireless signals. Pretty much any wireless card should work ok then. I would stay away from the very tiny USB ones since their antenna are small and being that close to the case will block the signal.

It is mostly picking a price point and then deciding which you like the most. I would go to the manufactures site and see how difficult it is to find drivers and manuals since that tends to be the largest difference between manufactures, some have much better support.

Im actually looking for a really good deal on one. The router is downstairs from my pc, and its pretty decent.. I have comcast one.. xfinity.. not sure if thats what your asking when you say "Good router".. And i cant run any cables from upstairs to downstairs sadly.. Would that be fast enough? The link you gave me? or is there better ones?

That card listed is well like by many people and is rather inexpensive. There are some small difference between cards but your particular house will have much more influence on the the wireless connection than a card with different antenna or something.

"fast enough" is likely not the proper question to even be asking.
1. The nic card and router must match feature wise if the router will do only 150m and you get a 450m nic it still will run 150m
2. Almost all wireless cards are much much faster than your internet connection unless you are one of the lucky ones that can get 1g google fiber or something. If you only have a 20m internet it will only run 20m no matter what wireless cards you buy.
3....MOST IMPORTANT. Games actually use very little bandwidth most well under 1mbit/sec. They are extremely dependent though on that 1mbit not having any delays or loss. Wireless is very bad for games because it gets random delays and packet loss mostly due to interference.

All you can do is try a wireless card and see how well it works. Most issue are going to be things like channel selection and other options rather which particular device you choose. All you can do is try and if it does not work well then you need to look at some of the non wireless options.

I see. It all sounds very confusing, haha, but thanks for the info. I actually have an enthernet cable hooked up to laptop that gives my pc internet by bridging the connections.. It works fine right now. But this laptop won't be able to work forever.
