HI all,my bios shown me only 1600mhz but my memory stick can run at 1866mhz without oc and my mobo accepted ram with speed 2133mhz after oc so 1866mhz should be fine but they are won't run with that speed. Please help. Thanks

Solution
the reason is because the CPU's memory controller only supports the 1600 and nothing higher. sorry but you will not reach that frequency. I have the same CPU.

Yep, the 965 was the first AMD CPU that could effectively run 1600, some can hit 1866 but it takes some manipulation and voltage increases, if you want to try

1. CPU Host Frequency will need to be 233 for DDR3-1866 (may want to lower the CPU multiplier as this will OC the CPU also)
2. CPU-NB Frequency should be 2800MHz
3. Raise DRAM voltage to 1.6
4. Set CPU/NB voltage to about 1.3

that cpu is not on that motherboards CPU list so i would be cautious on buying that one with out talking to MSI first. That CPU has a very high TDP of 220W and needs to have a AIO water cooling solution, many times sold in the same package, to cool it. The highest that is on the CPU list is the FX 8350.

@ Tradesman: I will give this a try for the heck of it just to see if my CPU can handle it. If not then no loss as I'm already pushing the top limits of this CPU anyways.

Yes you are correct that the FX-8350 will work on your motherboard for sure and run the 1866 MHz ram with out issues. Like i said though if you want to use that first one you will need to contact MSI to be sure it is supported. Just a simple Email will work.

8350 is a good choice and can run 1866 sticks (and just for info, it's basically as powerful as the 9590 without all the extra voltage and heat), also for cooling can look at a CM Hyper 212 EVO (about $35) which will do the job well, think you'd be happy with all
