Hi,
I just turned on my computer today and I got a black screen. The startup logo came on and everything and after that just a black screen no login screen or nothing. I don't know how to get into safe mode on the windows 8 (which is the system i have). Please tell me that. I got an error screen once but after when i tryed to get that error screen back it didnt come on. It said something about a boot file missing. I havn't downloaded anything on my computer for the past 2-3 weeks. Yesterday i used my computer and it was running smoothly but today it stopped. Yesterday i was using the internet and play call of duty black ops 2. Thanks for all the help!!!

Power your system on and then turn it off in the middle of Windows' bootup. Do that a couple times in a row and eventually startup repair will load. Let that run and see what happens.

The windows bootup doesnt actully come on. I'm sorry i think i said that incorrectly. It only gives me the option to run BIOS setup and thats it. Im sorry for the misunderstanding. And also i run Windows 8 so i dont think startup repair will happen. Thank You! Quick reply please as i have to do some work on my computer. Thank You!

Startup repair will happen if you follow the instructions I wrote, as that's how you get to startup repair in 8. Do you not even get the little circle-thing on the screen at all, though?

Do you see the hard drive listed in the BIOS? If so--can you access it via a Linux live CD?

I mean if you download a Linux distribution CD that will run Linux off the CD, can you see the contents of your hard drives?
