No its fine for your card, in fact its pretty good. Asus' auto overclocking software (boost clock) is dependent on your gpu, the gpu themps, psu, and other factors. The advertised boost clock speed is not nearly as high as it will go as sometimes you can get a "bad" gpu meaning it wont overclock as well as other do.

It's usual. The GPU boost algorithms try and max the clock they find safe. I typically see a ~50Mhz boost.

Do you have some sort of asus oc software installed?
Also the boost is quite minimal it most likely will do no harm to your system.
Get something like MSI afterburner and check your maxtemp during gameplay just to be on the safeside.

As others users have said it's a technology Nvidia use called GPU Boost. I have a 780 Ti with a Base clock of 1075 and Boost clock of 1140, but at it's peak the clock will run at 1218.

It's perfectly safe. GPU Boost takes into account many factors including temperature. My card never gets above 70C as I run a more aggressive custom fan profile, but even with the standard fan profile temps don't go above 75C.

Your card is throttling at 80c. ASUS went for super quiet fans and ok temps with the DCII. Go into a program like ASUS OC, precisionx, or afterburner and crank the fan up. You'll most likely see much better performance. My 770 clocks go
1150/1202/1254 (Stock/"factory boost"/Actual boost) and stock fan would stay under 80c but average around 1233Mhz. Now with a custom fan profile my card stays at 1319 and 75c.

well when i play bf4 it doesnt even reach 70c, but when im in the total war shogun menu the gpu usage is 99% ingame in shogun my temp is around 60-70
