My friends wont believe me that it's immensely better to buy a custom PC. My friend is spending $1900 and wants to buy one of these

I keep telling them my custom PC is waaaay better http://pcpartpicker.com/user/MAKroll/saved/4cRU

Post the disadvantages/advantages of getting the custom one versus the pre-built and say what one he should buy? Or post even a better custom build for around the same price?

Solution
show him the gimmicks of the pre builts. like 32GB RAM is totally pointless for anything outside of MASSIVE 3D renders and video edits/animations etc. The other one is a mobile processor! why would you spend close to 2000$ on a mobile CPU. For that kind of money you want at least 4 beefy, highly clocked, efficiently cooled cores, not weaker mobile ones. They do offer the aesthetics (another gimmick). perhaps show him how a custom build can be more custom tailored to look the way he wants. show him some cool lian li cases or something

show him these;

270X vs 770:
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1043?vs=1037
plenty more of those comparisons through various reviews

some performance comparison between a mainstream i5/i7 vs an SB-E CPU:
I5-4670K vs. i5-4770K:

http://www.techspot.com/review/679-intel-haswell-core-i7-4770k/page12.html

so in the case that there's no i5 to compare with in these IB-E CPUs review, use the 4770K as a reference;

for memory usage:
http://www.hardwarepal.com/battlefield-4-benchmark-mp-cpu-gpu-w7-vs-w8-1/13/
there's plenty more memory usage benchmarks in that website mostly for big AAA titles.

in essence, he's not going to need any of the i7's in most cases, 2x4GB of memory is plenty for most, if not all, titles (that aren't in alpha/beta), and it's foolish to spend so much just to end up with a mid tier GPU, over a high end GPU for a few quids less.

the only advantage they would get with a pre-built? the all-in-one warranty & the ease of not having to spend time building it. before someone argues about the fun of building a PC, let's face it, it's simply not for everyone, like sports, woodwork, smoking and alcoholism. even then, it's still a waste of money paying $1.8K+ just for an i7 & 32GB of RAM that does little to nothing to performance over a cheaper i5+8GB RAM & a 270X.
