Am not really good with laptops, but look at a FN+ ..combo.Look at the packard Bell site for info about your laptop.

Take a strong flash light and shine on the screen,if it displays an image is the back light broken and should you take it to the shop or probably replace the screen/back light yourself.

Hi I've had the same problem today, switched on my te69kb and it goes to a black screen with just a cursor. The lights are on at the front and I can hear it but it just stays on the blank screen. Did you find a solution to this problem?

In case anyone has this problem here's the advice I got from a helpline. Switch the PC on, as soon as the PB logo appears hold the power button to switch off. Repeat a few times till and this will trip the message 'preparing auto repair'. It should load a message describing the error, select the 'restore' option'. Leave the PC switched on while it restores, could take a few minutes, should then load the login screen. Sounds like this problem is caused by an inability to process a windows update.
