I have an fx 8320 and I was able to overclock it to 4.6ghz. (I plan on getting a msi gtx 760) how big of an improvement is it? What kind of fps increase am I looking at also does this overclock help combat a intel system?

you will notice a small increase in FPS performance, probably 5-10 FPS at best on a CPU game. Not much if you are playing a GPU game.

an Intel system of equal clock (4600 MHZ) will still beat the overclocked FX 8320 sadly (Less power consumption, less heat, 22 nm vs 32 nm and so on...)

an Intel system with factory clock against an overclocked FX 8320 will likely be worse in some cases, but probably you won't really see much difference in gaming performance.
