Hello everyone,

I recently bought this router to replace my trusty Dir-655 (its been dropping connections recently).
Out of the box, the 56U's gui interface was creating problems, lagging me out. I managed to update it, only to receive a bricked unit after a update. I fixed that too, but now I'm encountering issues with QOS- Quality of Service.
Whenever I start the service in the router's setup, my speedtest's are halved. I checked with software downloads as well, and they do not download as fast as with QOS disabled.

Without qos, i get 20 megabits down, with it on, I struggle to manage 11 down. (speedtest.net)

Is this normal? Should I just disable QOS, or is my router a dud?

Thanks in advance !

Turn it off it is the router but then it isn't the Broadcom chipset has issues with QoS regardless of firmware and router model QoS seems to create stability and performance issues. I went from using RT-66U to WD MyNET N900 and finally settled with Netgear Nighthawk (which has the same issues with stock firmware and DDWRT) . I get astronomically greater stability just leaving QoS/WMM turned off. I tried finding the link where I read to turn it off but I can't seem to locate it
