selecting a power board

Solution
Nothing particular to watch out for except maybe making sure it has sufficient power sockets for all your mains-powered PC equipment. Four outlets is nowhere enough for me, it used to be but I've expanded the number of mains-powered devices considerably since then, so best to buy one with more sockets than you actually need right now.

I bought a surge-protected power strip with only four sockets, but since then I've had to buy a couple of standard power strips to plug in to the protected one just to give me enough sockets and it looks quite a mess. Considering buying a vertical, surge protected unit which has a total of 10 sockets to tidy things up a bit.
