HID troubles, keyboard and mouse.

My keyboard and mouse don't work, I've hit the end of my rope and I think I'm kinda just flat boned but before I take the torch to my rig I'd like to see if someone can save it from me.

Sunday afternoon I'm playing the EQ Landmark beta and like an idiot I'm adjusting my video card settings while my rig is running. When it gets out of the BSD and finally successfully boots I've lost most of the functionality of my keyboard. The macro keys work, the volume shortcuts, mute, play pause and backlight keys work but no input is being read by the computer. I lookup a solution and it's to delete the upper and lower headers. I follow diligently and on restart I lose mouse functionality. Everything works in bios but the HID handoff during boot just doesn't happen and because of this I can't use the disk to run repair while the system is on. I just spent the last 6 hours trying to solve this myself but I'm out of my depth.

Restarted multiple times, unplugging and plugging back in swapping mice and other keyboards doesn't change anything the hotkeys just work on the new board and the issue stands.
I'm running win7, sp2
MS sidewinder keyboard
perixx m-1000.
Mobo: Asus sabertooth 990fx r2.0
Nivida GeForce 710

Any help would be nice, at this pont I'm almost ready to do a clean install but I'd like to see if there is anyway to salvage it so I don't lose my data. Thanks.
