mostly then are soldered onto the board and so difficult to remove, why do you want to change the chip itself? it would offer no new functionality compared to the current chip. Do you really not just want to do a bios update?

I know in the UK of at least one person who you can send boards away to, and they'll do it. you need infrared heaters and very fine soldering etc. IMO find someone to do it for you.
