Now i'm familiar with windows 7 full version and i'm familiar with the OEM you can buy to install that is tied to your motherboard. But i just came across this:

http://www.bmem.net/collections/frontpage/products/microsoft-windows-7-home-premium-64-bit

I checked them out on the Better Business Bureau:

http://www.bbb.org/san-diego/business-reviews/computers-hardware-software-and-services/bmem-net-in-san-diego-ca-171998904/

As i was concerned with how cheap the version of windows is. You know the old saying if it sounds to good to be true it usually is. With Windows XP losing its support on April 8 i was concerned with getting windows 7 and came across this. And so i was wondering if there is any differences between the OEM system builder OEM and the branded OEM install? And if this would be fine to install.

It says it works on any pc. And i saw a few complaints on the BBB but all were resolved by the company and the install went fine after a short call to microsoft to have the key activated.

They also have:

So was considering going with the windows professional version since its so cheap.

Now i know OEM is tied to the MOBO on which system it is installed meaning i can swap out every component in my pc so long as the mobo remains in tact my windows install should be fine. So i'm familiar with the system builder oem. I'm just unfamiliar with the branded oem version. So thoughts?

Yeah i'm not out to do anything illegal but installing windows 7 oem even not branded is against their tos as well last time i checked. As technically you are not supposed to install the system builder oem on a pc you do not intend to sell. Their tos is very much against diy. I know the dell install is designed to detect the current mobo and streamline the activation of the windows just like a system builders oem does by detecting dells mobo. So you'd need to call microsoft to activate the windows. I was just not familiar with the branded oem over the system builders oem. And how it relates to windows installs.

Yeah and i have no problem contacting them to activate it its a small price to pay for the cheaper price. It is $30-$40 cheaper over the system builders OEM version. And both install the same and both are tied to the mobo. I was just curious as to whether or not any one else here had any experience with a branded version of oem. I know neither one is supposed to be installed on a pc not meant for selling. As microsoft had changed their stance on diy pc building so made the oem version under their tos where you must sell the pc to another person to rightfully use the oem disc.

So its kind of fell into a grey area where system builders oem is concerned. To build a pc and install windows according to microsoft you must purchase their full version which is much more expensive. A person to meet this standard to the tos could just easily sell the pc to a spouse for as low as $0.01 and have the spouse give you the pc back. That still falls within their tos as you just sold that pc to another person. So its really weird how the tos is set up for oem windows.

And branded oem windows is not even mentioned in the tos at all. And not a lot of information is out there about them. Which is why i was asking for others opinions here about them.

Well tried ordering it and the site selling the windows discs cancelled my order stating that it was suspected as being fraudulent.......so i checked my email saw a promo from newegg and checked it and saw they had a code for email subscribers that takes $15 off of windows 7 64 bit home service pack 1. So i got it for $84.99 so not to shabby. Posting this so others who may search for this can see. And no i would not trust this company especially after seeing the email i was sent looked like a scam to me after that.
