Okay, so I was looking at the Anandtch GPU bench, and I decided to compare the 270X with the GTX 760 and was rather impressed. For a card that retails for $200 when not inflated, it had some pretty competitive performance against nVidia's roughly $250 offering in the 760. My question is, if prices are normal and the 270X is at its retail $200 price tag as well as the 760 being priced at its normal $250, is it really worth paying 25% more for 8 more FPS in games? In some titles the 760 is the clear winner, but other times its really close and sometimes the 270X is better. I personally have an overclocked 270 in my personal rig so I technically have a 270X and in wondering if I should maybe have saved an extra $70 and bought that. Heat and power consumption are not a problem to me, neither is noise so those factors don't matter in this scenario

The GTX 760 has a lot of extra features, such as Shadowplay, PhysX, and HBAO+, thus justifying the extra cost.

Ask yourself.

1. Do you play the games that the Nvidia does better in?
2. Does the extra FPS provided by the Nvidia card push the FPS to a more acceptable amount. For example if you find 42FPS acceptable in a given game, does the R9 270X not go below that FPS?

In positions like this, I always go for Nvidia since actually being able to run advanced PhysX more than outweighs the difference in cost.

Advanced? Matter of debate.

PhysX is not a reason to get an Nvidia card unless you play PhysX capable games almost exclusively.

Metro series, Assassin's Creed 4, Borderlands 2, Batman Arkham series, The Witcher 3, Warframe, CoD Ghosts, Planetside 2, Xcom Declassified, Blacklight Retribution... These are not games it's easy to avoid. Together they're half of the highest selling/most played games of the last 5 years. (and next year)

Well, I currently don't play too many games at all I'm pretty new to PC gaming. I bought the R9 270 because it was within my budget and the fact that it was just an underclocked 270X. I have no idea if I will ever need PhysX so that isn't really too much of a reason for me. Plus, even though it sucks, I could run PhysX on my CPU. Its better than nothing if I go AMD. I Have however seen things about shadow play and I'm definitely curious. I've been watching videos and reading up on AMD and nVidia's features, but I just can't decide. Partly why I made this threaf

Your card is a great card and will handle most very well at 1080P the other features of the Nvidia are nice but not necessary for enjoying the games that support them.
