Hello everyone, I am planning to upgrade from the EVGA GTX 660 SC I have right now, so I was thinking about getting a gtx 760 or gtx 770, I game only at 1600x900, will a gtx 760 suffice? I dont plan on upgrading to a 1080p monitor anytime soon.

My main problem is my current gpu is not able to mantain 40+ fps (at all times) on games like AC4, BF4, hell even on some maps of bf3 it drops to mid 30's.

Here's my current rig:

AMD FX 6300 @ 4.5Ghz (Yes its OC.)
GTX 660 SC
8 GB RAM
SSD 128GB
HDD 1TB
w8x64

I was considering something else, ditching the amd cpu and getting an i5 with an gigabyte board that would cost around $300 too, or get a better gpu, but this would mean I wont e getting a newer gpu in the next 1-2 years since that is what it takes me to save $300, so what is my best way to go here?

but lets say, I can play crysis 3 at 1600x900 on medium and stay above 60 fops with my current gtx 660 SC.

now my question is, obviously getting a gtx 760 would allow me go to high and mantain 60 fps, but if I get a gtx 770 would I be able to get lets say 90 fps on high with a gtx 770? or the rule is get a better gpu only if you bump resolution?

Get GTX 760. It is enough for gaming on 1600x900 and you will get around 50-60 FPS, but if you plan to game on 1080, say in future, get GTX 770. Check YouTube, there are a lots of video on GTX 760 running games on 1600x900.

Well i dont plan to upgrade to 1080p, and i dont mind also playing games on medium to high settings ( i am not an ultra fanboy) but i walso want 60+ fps, as I stated before, my gtx 660 is able to run most games, for example battlefield 4 on medium at an avg of 55-60 fps, but I hate the stutter you see when it dips below 60 fps, so thats mostlyw hat I want, a HUGE EDIT.

I switched from my fx 6300 to an i5 4670k. so cpu is no longer an issue.

Fine. Then, simply get the GTX 760. It will satisfy all your requirements.
